Less energy.
More swimming.
Calculate live how much heating energy a custom-made ROLLO SOLAR pool cover saves for your pool — based on the calculation model of the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics.
1 — How big is your pool?
2 — Desired water temperature
3 — When do you use the pool?
4 — How do you heat your pool?
5 — Daily swimming time (pool open)
4 hours openOutside swimming hours the cover stays closed. The animation next to it shows your setting.
Where do the savings come from?
Up to 70 % of a pool's heat losses are caused by evaporation. A closed cover stops this effect almost completely — with transparent profiles, part of the solar gains is preserved.
Calculation basis: the energy balance is based on the scientific calculation model of the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics (EDA-F 2.02, licensed to ROLLO-SOLAR Melichar GmbH). The calculation considers all relevant energy flows: evaporation, radiation, convection, ground losses, fresh water supply and solar gains.
Climate data: test reference year (TRY) Würzburg with monthly averages for global radiation, air temperature and dew point. Actual values may vary depending on location and weather.
- Wind speed: 0.5 m/s (sheltered location)
- Fresh water temperature: 15°C
- Pool depth: 1.50 m
- Ground temperature: 10°C
- Coverage: 99.4% of the water surface (3 cm edge distance)
- Electricity: 0.30 €/kWh
- Natural gas: 0.12 €/kWh (gas boiler efficiency: 90%)
- Heating oil: 1.00 €/litre ≈ 0.10 €/kWh (oil boiler efficiency: 85%)
- Heat pump: 0.30 €/kWh electricity at COP 4 ≈ 0.075 €/kWh heat
Important note: the values shown are rough guide values for orientation. Actual savings depend on many individual factors such as location, weather, usage patterns, actual energy prices and system efficiency. The calculation does not replace individual consultation.
