Swimming pool covers for municipal swimming pools
The cheapest energy is the energy that your pool doesn’t lose in the first place.
Before you put the next multi-million renovation through the committees: an automatic pool cover is the smallest investment with the quickest impact on your running costs. Can be retrofitted without any work on the pool itself, operated in seconds, with service in accordance with Bad Tölz — since 1983.
The location of the swimming pools — you know where they are
There is a huge backlog of renovation work. The fastest lever is small.
A swimming pool cover won’t renovate your pool. But no other measure reduces running costs so quickly, so predictably and with so little effort — because the biggest single factor driving your energy costs is evaporation from the exposed water surface, every night, every time the pool is closed.

VKU Swimming Pool SurveyCutting costs — in practical terms
Saving starts with,
when the baths close.
Most of the time, your pool lies unused — but is still heated. That’s exactly where the pool cover comes in: four cost centres, at the touch of a button.
Up to 50–70 per cent less heat loss through the water surface
Every litre that evaporates has to be reheated. The closed slatted cover stops evaporation at the source — at night and whenever the pool is closed. At outdoor pools, solar-powered versions also harness heat from the sun.
Less humid air, less strain on the ventilation system
In indoor swimming pools, evaporated water has to be removed from the air using a complex process. If evaporation decreases, so does the load on the ventilation and dehumidification systems — the second-largest source of energy consumption after the pool heating.
Less make-up water, less treatment
Anything that doesn’t evaporate doesn’t need to be replenished, heated or treated. At an outdoor swimming pool, the cover also keeps leaves and dirt out of the water — significantly reducing the amount of cleaning required.
Your staff have more important things to do
Plastic covers take up staff time during daily operations and raise health and safety concerns. The fully automatic system serves your team in seconds — at shift changes, before classes, and in the evening. This is particularly important when staff are in short supply.
Preliminary estimate for your investment
What’s in your body of water?
Two figures are sufficient to give an initial indication of the scale involved. Our LCC sheet provides a definitive energy calculation for your pool — complete with assumptions and formulae for your tender documents.

Three ranges. To suit every budget the right one — not the most expensive one.
All three ranges are TÜV- and NF-certified and fully automatic. The difference lies in the materials and service life — we recommend the most affordable range that suits your bathroom. Nothing more.

What local authority buyers really ask
The short answers before the first meeting.
How much does a cover for our bathroom cost?+
Every enclosure is made to measure, so there is no list price — but there is a clear pricing structure: the price of a Mini Cover is comparable to that of a plastic sheet cover; PVC is the affordable standard choice, whilst PC is the investment option for year-round use. Following a brief preliminary assessment, you’ll receive a free cost estimate, including a LCC sheet.
Can we retrofit the existing system without touching the tank?+
Yes. The above-ground rewind mechanism is situated at the edge of the pool and does not require any work to be carried out inside the pool — the quickest solution for existing installations. In the case of a complete refurbishment, an under-floor system can be retrofitted; for large pools, a lifting system is available.
How quickly will the investment pay for itself?+
This depends on the surface area of the water, operating hours and the price of energy. Our LCC spreadsheet calculates this for your pool — using transparent assumptions and formulas. Life-cycle costs may be taken into account as an additional criterion in the tendering process; that is precisely what this spreadsheet is designed for.
How much work does this involve for our procurement department?+
As little as possible. You will receive sample specifications, data sheets, installation drawings and all relevant certificates (CE, TÜV, NF), fully prepared and up to date — tailored to meet the requirements of public procurement in your country. We cover the German, Austrian and Swiss regulations (VgV/UVgO, BVergG, BöB/IVöB) as standard.
What happens in the event of a fault — and who maintains the system?+
Our in-house service team from Bad Tölz provides a rapid response across Germany, Austria and Switzerland. We carry out maintenance under a service contract — wherever possible, outside your operating hours, once a year and with full documentation. Spare parts are sourced from Germany and remain available even years later — individual profiles can be replaced without dismantling the system.
Will the bathroom have to be closed off for the installation?+
We tailor the installation to suit your operations — for above-ground systems, this usually means avoiding long shutdown periods, often carrying out the work during maintenance windows or off-peak hours. We will plan the exact schedule with your technical management team.
Let us do the maths for your project — ahead of the next round of budget negotiations.
Free of charge and prior to the formal procedure: a cost estimate, a LCC form and the relevant supporting documents tailored specifically to your catchment area. In line with market research, with a dedicated point of contact.
